Cheesipedia was dreamt up as a project to catalogue the world’s cheeses in an easy to access, straightforward manner, and tag each cheese with useful information.

It’s in its infancy, and will hopefully grow over time. Some people have commented – “Where’s cheeses X or Y?” or “Why isn’t my country in the list?”. Well, I can’t cater to all from the start, but the idea is that hopefully, the site will grow to encompass all corners of the globe

Most of the initial content on the site has been sourced from a fairly reliable, open-source repository (Wikipedia, to give it’s true name – see Licensing info for more details) and so is as reliable as-can-be given the source. However, over time I hope that user contributions can add to the authenticity and reliability of the site and help it turn into a fairly comprehensive cheese resource (a lofty goal, for sure, but I think the subject of cheese merits such a project)

To that end, I hope to eventually introduce wiki-style editing to the site, to allow all visitors to contribute their shared cheeseknowledge to the cheesepool and add a little bit extra to Cheesipedia.

I know that any site, in its infancy will have issues, and be lacking in certain, if not many, respects, but all good things must start somewhere.
